The new complex known as Palazzo Lombardia comprises a 161 m tower made of reinforced concrete, steel and glass, surrounded by and connected to sleek and harmonious buildings measuring seven to nine stories tall. The large site covers a total area of 87,000 m2, including a 30,000 m2 area occupied by the Lombardy Government Building. To complete the works, an ovoid-shaped piazza has been built with rooftop gardens measuring approximately 9,000 m2 and overhanging the roofs of the lower buildings, thus creating a strong emotional impact.
Construction was carried out in partnership with Impregilo, Techint and CMB, with designs implemented by the New York architectural firm Pei Cobb Freed & Partners.
